SynaptiCAD releases Linux support for entire product range
June 01,
2005 - All SynaptiCAD products now available for Linux platforms
SynaptiCAD has recently ported its entire line of digital design tools
to the Linux operating system. All the tools share a common platform-independent graphical
interface that provides users with the ability to easily move from one OS to another and
share their work across different platforms. SynaptiCAD offers timing diagram editors, HDL
simulators and test bench generation tools.
User demand was the key motivator for SynaptiCAD to port its products
to the Unix platform. According to Dan Notestein, president of SynaptiCAD, The speed
of Linux on relatively low-cost x86 based hardware and the increasing availability of high
quality EDA software has made it an attractive environment for digital design. For some
time we have had our console-based simulation tools available on Linux since these were
relatively easy to port, but the increasing demand for our GUI-based products, especially
our timing diagram editing products, made it a logical next step to port these products as
well.
SynaptiCAD tools are now supported on all desktop versions of Windows,
Solaris, and RedHat Linux 7.2, 8, and 9 for the i386 platform. Updated HPUX 11 support is
slated for 3rd quarter of 2005.
With
this release SynaptiCAD brings the following products onto the Linux platform:
TestBencher Pro: a graphical test bench generator that significantly reduces
the time required to create and maintain test benches.
VeriLogger Pro: Verilog simulator using the BugHunter Pro interface for
debugging.
BugHunter Pro: an interactive graphical debugging environment for VHDL and
Verilog simulators.
DataSheet Pro: a timing diagram editing environment for creating professional
data books and documentation.
WaveFormer Pro: includes a waveform translator that can convert data between
logic analyzers, pattern generators, and simulators.
Timing Diagrammer Pro: a timing diagram editor with includes min/max timing
analysis with delays, setups, and holds.
In addition to these products, SynaptiCAD provides several optional software
modules that can be added on to these
products, such as the GigaWave feature for handling gigabyte size waveform files and the
Waveform Comparison feature for comparing waveforms from logic analyzers and simulators
for regression testing.
SynaptiCAD products are available now
from EuroEDA. Additional information about SynaptiCAD and their full product range may be
